Summer Programs
DANJ's Summer Technique Classes are open to our studio dancers, their guests and any other individuals wishing to maintain their technique, develop new skills and make new friends. Be sure to read about the ten-class card -- there are very popular with our alumni home for the summer from college and dancers from other studios looking to experience different teachers and styles. Little Spinners dance camps are for children ages 2 1/2 to 8 years old. The camp is divided into three levels, each designed for the applicable age group. Children are welcome to attend one or more sessions. Each session culminates in a review for parents and friends at the studio. Our faculty is looking forward to another great summer with new and returning "little spinners."
Three Summer Stars sessions will be offered this summer: (2, 5-Day Sessions starting July 11 and August 5th in Lake Hopatcong and an 11-Day Session starting July 25th in Totowa). Children are welcome to attend one or more sessions (each session features a different show). Sandy and Danny, our resident superstars, invite surprise visitors from some of your favorite Broadway shows!
Master class workshops were held in three rooms, dedicated to Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced tappers. Each workshop consisted of three 1-hour classes covering many styles of tap including: Rhythm TAP, Theatre TAP, Tricks & Slides, Improvisation and Tap History. Tap the Map's DANJ faculty was Anthony Russo, Jumaane Taylor, Chris Erk and Jason Luks.
The Dance Academy of North Jersey is sponsoring this exciting program in collaboration with Jefferson Township's Recreation Department and Performing Hearts. DANJ is hosting all of the classes and providing the instructors and assistants. The classes include creative rhythm movement to Broadway music and pop-chart favorites. Styles include elements of ballet, jazz and percussive dance and the use of props. Read the online AIM story.
