Summer 2010 Programs
DANJ's Summer Technique Classes are open to our studio dancers, their guests and any other individuals wishing to maintain their technique, develop new skills and make new friends. Our online registration system is ready to accept online enrollment (follow the instructions on the Summer Technique Classes page). New Summer Programs for 2010 -- In addition to our regular summer technique classes, we were very excited to announce a series of new workshops beginning the summer of 2010 (read descriptions below, then click on each for more details):
Little Spinners dance camps are for children ages 2 1/2 to 8 years old. The camp is divided into three levels, each designed for the age group. Children are welcome to attend either one or both sessions. Miss Patti is very excited to meet our campers!
The Summer Stars workshops are for ages 8 & up. Children are welcome to attend either one or both sessions (each session will feature a different show). Sandy and Danny are expecting a number of surprise visitors from some of your favorite Broadway shows!
A new DANJ summer program featuring guest instructor Katie Hopkins. Katie is a staff member of The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps and has served as its captain. She looks forward to greeting members of local color guards, dance teams & studio dancers.
Master class workshops were held in three rooms -- each room being dedicated to either Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced level tappers. Each workshop will consist of three 1-hour classes. The classes covered many elements and styles of tap including: Rhythm TAP, Theatre TAP, Tricks & Slides, Improvisation and Tap History. Tap the Map's world class faculty for the DANJ sessions was Anthony Russo, Jumaane Taylor, Chris Erk and Jason Luks.
The Dance Academy of North Jersey is proud to announce its sponsorship of this exciting new program being introduced by the Jefferson Township Recreation Department in collaboration with Performing Hearts. DANJ is hosting classes and providing instructors. The classes include creative rhythm movement to Broadway music and pop-chart favorites. Styles include elements of ballet, jazz and percussive dance and the use of props. Read the online AIM story published June 11, 2010.
