Young Dancer Program Descriptions

Our "Young Dancer" programs are taught by instructors experienced with teaching younger children (the ages and levels described below are general guidelines and may vary on a child-by-child basis according to demonstrated ability):

Terrific Twosies (Age: 2 - 3; 45 minutes)
With Moms close by, this program is designed specifically for two-year olds to develop their gross motor skills, coordination, movement creativity, physical development and body and social awareness. This class is a great way to introduce your child to a dance program. After completing Terrific Twosies, children are ready for our Preschool program. Terrific Twosies participation in the recital is optional, at the parent's discretion.

Preschool I (Age: 3; 45 minutes) and II (Age: 4; 45 minutes)
These fun-filled classes will introduce your little dancer to the basics of Ballet and Jazz. Ballet provides the perfect foundation for all dance styles a dancer may be interested in as they mature. The Jazz portion of the class continues to develop rhythm and coordination. Preschool students participate in the annual end-of-school year recital.

Combo: Ballet/Tap I or II (Age: 4 - 7) and Jazz/Tap II (Age: 5 - 6)
These fun-filled combo classes will introduce your little dancer to the basics of Ballet and Jazz or Tap (depending on the Combo class selected). Combo classes are appropriate for newcomers and for children with experience in preschool dance. The age guidelines for the Combo classes are as follows:

  • Preschool ("Pre-K") Combo I (Age 4 - 5)
  • Kindergarten ("Kinder") Combo I (Age 5 - 6)
  • Kindergarten ("Kinder") Combo II (Age 5 - 6)
  • 1st Grade Combo 2 (Age 6 - 7)

Beginner Classes in Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Ballet (age 5 - 10)
These are separate classes, each one dedicated to ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop. Warm-up stretches and routines are part of each of these classes.
